      Short version: Chat to Task does NOT collect, store, or share any of your personal data. Everything stays on your own browser. We have zero servers receiving your data.
    

1. What is Chat to Task?

Chat to Task is a Chrome Extension that works inside WhatsApp Web (web.whatsapp.com) to help you convert WhatsApp messages into organized tasks. It adds a task management panel alongside WhatsApp Web and captures contact names from conversations to help you track who gave you each task.

2. Data We Collect

We collect absolutely nothing. Specifically:

We do NOT collect your WhatsApp messages or conversations
We do NOT collect your contact names or phone numbers
We do NOT collect your task content or notes
We do NOT collect any usage data or analytics
We do NOT use cookies or tracking pixels
We do NOT have any servers that receive your data
We do NOT require account creation or login

3. How Your Data is Stored

All task data (task names, due dates, contact names, priority levels, chat references) is stored exclusively in your browser's local storage using Chrome's built-in chrome.storage.local API.

Your data never leaves your device
It is never transmitted to any external server
It is only accessible by you on your browser
It can be completely deleted by removing the extension

4. Permissions We Request and Why

storage — To save your tasks locally in your browser only
alarms — To trigger due date reminders at the right time
notifications — To show browser notifications when tasks are due
host_permissions (web.whatsapp.com) — To inject the task panel UI into WhatsApp Web

We only request the minimum permissions necessary for core functionality.

5. Third-Party Services

Chat to Task does not integrate with any third-party analytics, advertising, or data collection services. We have no affiliation with WhatsApp LLC or Meta Platforms, Inc.

6. Children's Privacy

Chat to Task is designed for business and professional use by adults. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under the age of 13.

7. Changes to This Policy

If we make changes to this privacy policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above and notify users through Chrome Web Store update notes.
